2024 Election Analysis on Trump, The GOP and Democrats

Did people vote for Donald Trump or just against Kamala Harris? Over the next several weeks, people will debate the aftermath of the 2024 election results.

Because of so many issues, let’s narrow down the key factors that got Trump elected.

Florida Daily compiled voter analysis by Fox News and other groups that interviewed over 111,000 voters in battleground states who voted early in this year’s election.

Trump’s win revolved around the top two issues: the economy and immigration.

“Another area where Kamala lost is when she wouldn’t define what is different between her and Joe Biden, and people voted against her because they didn’t want another Biden term,” said Allysia Finley from the Wall St. Journal

Seventy percent of voters said the country was on the wrong path, up from 60% in 2020. Most voters wanted change, with 25% supporting a total government overhaul.

Trump’s Strength.

Rural communities performed better from 22% advantage in 2020 up to 26%. Trump’s support among seniors jumped by three points. Trump won with Catholics by 9 points and Protestants by a margin of 22% over Harris. White evangelical Christians went heavily for Trump by a 59% margin.

He also did well with military households (+13 points) and households with guns (+26 points).

Trump’s core of support came from white evangelicals, rural voters, whites without a college degree, conservatives, and men.

Trump also cut into the traditional base that backs democrats, Black, Hispanic, and younger voters.

GOP Needs Improvement.

While Trump made gains, there is still room for Republicans to broaden their support.

Kamala Harris did underperform this year compared to Biden in 2020 ,which Republicans may want to focus on for future elections.

Union households, Harris won by 12 points. Suburban voters went for Harris, and Suburban women, came out in stronger numbers for Harris over Trump by 16%.

Some of the analysis shows women that supported Harris did so because of Trump’s style and the abortion debate. AnalystS have said Republicans can’t run away from that issue any longer.

Harris did well with college-educated women and urban voters. School choice is a winning issue for Republicans, and if introduced more into minority communities, it may help them with voters in those districts.

The GOP also needs to focus on moderate voters. That group went to Harris by 17 points over Trump. Jewish voters gave Harris a 34-point victory over Trump.

Overall, the Democrats’ normal base didn’t show up for Harris, compared to Trump.
