Florida Senator Ashley Moody releasaed an official statement regarding the introduction of the the Expedited Removal of Criminal Aliens Act, See the statement below.

The vital legislation that amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to authorize expedited removal of certain criminal aliens. This legislation is critical to supporting President Trump’s immigration priorities and allows for the prompt correction to the disastrous border policies implemented by the Biden administration. Senator Moody was joined on the bill by Senator Eric Schmitt as the lead cosponsor.

Senator Ashley Moody said, “Following four years of systematic dismantlement of our country’s immigration and national security structure under Joe Biden, the American people gave President Trump a mandate to clean up Biden’s mess. Democrats and lower-level, partisan judges, however, have sought to block his efforts at every turn. They have claimed that dangerous criminal illegal aliens and MS-13 gang members like Kilmar Abrego Garcia are just family men living quiet lives in America and they couldn’t be more wrong. Democrats have fought against the quick removal of illegal aliens who have committed atrocious crimes against children or even those that have been convicted of murder. It makes no sense. Today we are finally putting common sense immigration policies first by introducing legislation to authorize the expedited removal of dangerous criminals and prevent activist-judges from keeping known terrorists, criminals and gang members on American soil and endangering our communities.”

Senator Eric Schmitt said, “Four years ago, Joe Biden opened our southern border and the illegal immigrants who broke the law to come into our country are not due the same process as American citizens. The Supreme Court and the Constitution agree, and it’s time we expand the expedited removal process to allow the President to secure our great nation.”

The bill authorizes the expedited removal for an alien who:

<
  1. Is a member of a criminal gang or organization;
  2. Is a member of a foreign terrorist organization or has provided material support to such an organization;
  3. has been convicted of any felony, any misdemeanor against a member of a vulnerable group, any assault of a law enforcement officer, any sexual offense, any crime of domestic violence, any stalking offense, any crime against children, including sex trafficking of a minor or sexual abuse of a minor, any activity relating to material involving the sexual exploitation of minors, or any violation of a protection order.

Senator Moody has been a leader in trying to correct the Biden administration’s dangerous and irresponsible border policies, as Florida’s Attorney General, Senator Moody:

Visited the U.S. Southwest Border on multiple occasions and filed legal action after legal action to fight back against the Biden administration’s unlawful and destructive immigration policies. Attorney General Moody won many of the federal legal challenges.

In 2023, a federal judge sided with Attorney General Moody, ruling that Biden is responsible for the border crisis and claiming Biden effectively turned the U.S. Southwest Border into “little more than a speedbump.”
