This week, Commissioner Nikki Fried and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services launched a new website.

Fried’s office showcased FDACS.gov as it hopes to “increase awareness about the department’s broad responsibilities in both agriculture and consumer services and help Floridians access information and services easier.” The previous website–freshfromflorida.gov–had been launched by then Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam when he took over in Tallahassee back in 2011.

“From supporting Florida’s farmers and ranchers, to protecting consumers from credit card fraud, fake charities, telemarketers, and travel scams, the responsibilities of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumers Services are broad, and our new website reflects all the ways we’re proud to serve Floridians,” said Fried. “This new mobile-optimized, user-friendly site makes it easier to renew a license, file consumer complaints, and find more ways to work, play, and eat in Florida.”

Fried’s office insisted the website was a significant improvement from its previous design.

“The redesigned website creates a more efficient user experience, with a new layout responsive for all platforms. Clearer navigation, streamlined menus, and a user location-personalized home page make finding local contacts and resources simpler, such as nearby farmers’ markets and job opportunities. As part of the website redesign, the department’s domain name has changed from @FreshFromFlorida.com to @FDACS.gov, which includes email addresses,” Fried’s office noted.
