New Poll Looks at What Voters Think of Marco Rubio, Rick Scott

A new poll shows U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., in better shape with Florida voters than U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla.

Quinnipiac University released a poll on Wednesday looking at how the two senators–neither of whom face voters this year–are currently doing with Florida voters.

Rubio is approved by 46 percent of those surveyed while 33 percent disapprove of him. Scott is treading water in the poll with 41 percent approving of him and 41 percent disapproving of him.

Both senators do well with their GOP base as 73 percent of Florida Republicans approving of Rubio and 70 percent of them approving of Scott.

Scott is slightly upside down with voters outside the major parties with 39 percent of them approving of him while 41 percent of them disapprove of him. Rubio does better with these voters as 45 percent of them approve of him and less than a third of them–31 percent–disapprove of him.

Neither senators does well with Democrats as 23 percent of them approve of Rubio and 16 percent of them approve of Scott.

First elected to the Senate in 2010, Rubio faces voters again in 2022. After eight years as governor, Scott was elected to the Senate back in 2018.

The poll of 1,385 self-identified registered voters in Florida was taken from April 16 – 20 with a margin of error of +/- 2.6 percent.
