This week, Florida House Speaker Chris Sprowls, R-Palm Harbor, named state Rep. Jackie Toledo, R-Tampa, to be the House’s representative on the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking.

“I am proud to appoint Rep. Toledo to the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking,” Sprowls said. “Her passion for helping victims and promoting the health and safety of Florida’s children makes her uniquely qualified to serve on this body.”

“I will continue to encourage all efforts to end human trafficking and rehabilitate its victims,” Toledo posted on social media.

Toledo joins the 15-member committee formed in 2014 by Florida Statute and chaired by Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody to coordinate state and local efforts to fight human trafficking.

The Statewide Council on Human Trafficking serves to support human trafficking victims, help coordinate state and local partnerships to combat human trafficking and develop recommendations.

Quarterly meetings and an annual summit are held each year to share successes and ideas on combating human trafficking.
