Charlie Crist Leads Nikki Fried in Primary Eve Poll as Florida Democrats Ready to Take on Ron DeSantis

On Monday, the day before the primary, Florida Politics released a poll from St. Pete Polls showing U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist, D-Fla., with a commanding lead over state Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried as Democrats get ready to choose a candidate to take on Gov. Ron DeSantis in November.

Crist tales 59.3 percent of likely Democratic voters while Fried pulls 29.7 percent and 10.9 percent are undecided, won’t say or back other candidates.

A majority of those surveyed–57 percent–have already voted. Crist leads this group with 63.1 percent followed by Fried at 31.4 percent and 5.5 percent are undecided, won’t say or back other candidates.

Crist also leads with the 43 percent who are planning to vote. He takes 55.7 percent of these voters while Fried gets 26.3 percent and 17.9 percent are undecided, won’t say or back other candidates.

Crist leads with both genders and across racial lines. Fried is ahead in Gainesville while they are tied in Panama City however Crist leads in every other market.

The poll of 1,617 likely Florida Democratic primary voters was taken from Aug. 20 through Aug. 21 and had a margin of error of +/- 2.4 perc
