Florida Tops List of Law Enforcement Partnerships with ICE

In January, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that with the combination of state and local police working with federal law enforcement there were between 10,000-20,000 illegals arrested In Florida.

A story by the Center Square reveals Florida is the number 1 state of agencies partnering up with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Local and state law enforcements partnership role with ICE over the last year consist of helping federal agents “deport removable aliens involved in gang activity, violent crimes, human smuggling, organized crime, sex offenses, drug smuggling, money laundering and many other crimes.

According to the governor’s office, every sheriff’s office in the state is participating in the federal program with ICE.

Some of the local agencies working with ICE include 170 police departments, 12 state agencies and 15 state universities and colleges.

Gov. DeSantis said that Operation Tidal Wave was the first program of its kind in the country and the largest joint immigration enforcement operation in ICE’s history.

“Florida is proud to lead the nation on illegal immigration enforcement, acting as a force multiplier to assist President Trump in restoring our nation’s sovereignty,” DeSantis said.

ICE officials also added and said that Operation Tidal Wave is not only reducing the number of individuals who pose risks to Florida’s communities but is also setting a precedent for how states can take a proactive role in supplementing federal immigration enforcement.
