WASHINGTON — Plans for a presidential library honoring Donald Trump are taking shape, with new details indicating the project could become one of the most prominent structures in Miami.
Speaking at the White House Easter Egg Roll, Eric Trump said the proposed library is expected to be the tallest building in Miami and located on a prime waterfront site. He described the project as a major architectural landmark and said the development team is “really excited” about its progress.
Renderings released last week show a skyscraper rising above the Miami skyline, prominently displaying the Trump name near the top. According to Eric Trump, the facility will be built on approximately 2.6 acres of land in downtown Miami that was transferred from the state of Florida for the project.
The site was previously owned by Miami Dade College and used as a parking lot before being returned to the state. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis later transferred the property to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation for development.
Plans for the building include several high-profile features tied to Trump’s presidency and public persona. Among them is a Boeing 747 aircraft that served as Air Force One, which is expected to be displayed inside the building’s lobby. Eric Trump did not provide details on how the aircraft would be installed but suggested the structure could be built around it.
Additional elements include a replica of the Oval Office as it appeared during Trump’s presidency, a reproduction of his Presidential Walk of Fame, and a gold-colored escalator referencing his 2015 campaign announcement. A statue of Trump is also expected to be part of the display.
Eric Trump said the project is intended to serve as a single presidential library for his father, despite Trump’s nonconsecutive terms in office. Earlier discussions had considered a potential site in New York City.
President Trump has also suggested the building could include commercial elements, possibly functioning in part as a hotel — reflecting his longstanding involvement in the hospitality industry.
The project will be funded through private donations, according to Eric Trump, who said he is overseeing construction to ensure the library appropriately reflects his father’s legacy. A groundbreaking date has not yet been announced, and no timeline for completion has been provided.
Eric Trump also drew a contrast between the proposed Miami project and the presidential center being developed by Barack Obama in Chicago, offering a critical assessment of its design.
