Could Jason Kidd Become the Next Orlando Magic Head Coach?

Earlier today, the Dallas Mavericks parted ways with head coach Jason Kidd. The Mavericks made the announcement after Dallas failed to reach the playoffs and ended the 2025-26 season with an overall win/loss record of 26-56. Kidd, who was a co-rookie of the year as a player for the Mavericks in the 1994-95 season, compiled a 205-205 regular-season record and a 22-18 postseason record with the 2025-26 Rookie of the year Cooper Flag on the Mavs’ roster. During Kidd’s five-year tenure as head coach of the franchise that drafted him three decades ago.

While Kidd considers his options, one team without a head coach is the Orlando Magic. Jamahl Moseley was dismissed as the Magic’s head coach after the team collapsed in the first round of the 2026 playoffs, surrendering a 3-1 series lead against the Detroit Pistons. Orlando’s franchise player, Paolo Banchero, was an outspoken critic of Moseley and requested new leadership for the Magic.

While the Magic have yet to make any offer or official comments, expect Kidd’s name to surface as a potential hire.
