2026 Florida Governor’s Race Candidate Profiles: Bobby Williams

Bobby Williams is a Republican candidate for governor of Florida who is presenting himself as a political outsider with a background in ministry and community service rather than elected office.

A third-generation Florida native, Williams has emphasized his personal ties to the state and his concern about the effects of population growth, development and rising housing costs. He has been married to his wife for 25 years and has one daughter. His campaign biography also highlights his Christian faith, interest in hunting and commitment to remaining active in Florida communities.

For approximately a decade, Williams has worked through an initiative called The Freedom Tour, which he describes as a community-focused ministry and outreach effort. According to his campaign, the project began as an effort to assist several families and later expanded to serve communities across Florida. Williams says that experience taught him to work with people from different religious traditions and backgrounds while focusing on shared goals.

Williams has made his lack of prior elected experience a central part of his candidacy. He describes himself as a working Floridian rather than a career politician and argues that state government needs leaders who listen to residents, resist pressure from donors and special interests, and focus on direct action.

His campaign platform places a strong emphasis on limiting development and protecting Florida’s natural resources. Williams opposes large data centers and industrial projects that he says could place additional pressure on the state’s water supply. He also supports protecting farmland, springs, waterways, the Everglades and rural communities from overdevelopment.

Williams argues that Florida should improve roads, utilities, schools, emergency services and water infrastructure before approving additional large-scale housing projects. His campaign has used the phrase “Florida is full” to express opposition to rapid population growth and development patterns associated with other states.

On housing, Williams supports reconsidering property taxes on homesteaded properties and expanding alternatives such as tiny-home communities. He says state policy should help working families move from renting to homeownership and allow longtime residents to remain in their homes.

Williams’ education platform calls for reducing standardized testing, expanding vocational and trade programs, and giving teachers greater control in the classroom. He also supports reviewing school discipline and safety policies to create what he describes as safer and more orderly learning environments.

On agriculture, Williams supports protecting farmland from conversion to residential or commercial development and providing assistance to local farmers. He describes agriculture as important to Florida’s economy, identity and ability to maintain a dependable food supply.

Williams has also made disaster relief a campaign issue. He argues that state resources should be directed according to need rather than publicity and that emergency operations centers, nonprofit organizations and state agencies should have sufficient authority to respond quickly after hurricanes and other disasters.

His broader political positions include opposition to illegal immigration, government corruption, foreign ownership or influence involving Florida land and economic assets, and what he describes as excessive corporate control of state policy. His campaign says its overall goal is to protect Florida’s land, water, families and long-term quality of life.
