A Review of the Trump, Harris Debate

Florida Daily columnist Dr. Ed H. Moore’s reaction to the 2024 Presidential Debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

“ABC didn’t press Harris on her position changes at all.

They corrected or challenged him often and if I recall correctly, her only once.

Trump was mostly flat, almost bored, but he had strong answers before each break and a decent closing. She got in way too many digs with no response from him, was never corrected or challenged by ABC moderators,  even when using blatant falsehoods, and Trump let her ride along as the positive change candidate. He tried too hard to not be the Trump we have seen. He was not quite himself and neither was she.

She had well prepared responses, even when I disagreed, however if it takes her locking herself away for the better part of a week to correct her speech and personality flaws and prepare responses I surely would not want her negotiating something like the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Trump was Trump but more on downers than steroids. Harris didn’t cackle once, didn’t spew her normal word salads and I’d say she found a way to unburden herself from what she has always been.

Now we are limited by the significance of the shortage of time. My greatest curiosities from tonight are finding out if anyone is really eating cats, dogs, and ducks and why not one question was asked regarding taxation plans, budget deficits, and fiscal responsibility in DC.

ABC was the real loser tonight. I seriously doubt many voters switched tonight and if you haven’t decided by now please don’t vote.

One thing is for certain if you watched the show they call a debate but with too much interjections by ‘moderators’ and their desire to move on to another topic.

Reading comments and posts on social media it’s clear the adage holds true, just as it always does each election. Where you stand depends upon where you sit for the most part. She was great. He was bad. He was great, she was bad. It’s a rare post that criticizes both. Watching the post-debate TV summaries you get the same reactions. The hole keeps getting deeper and we keep holding shovels.”
