This week, U.S. Rep. Aaron Bean, R-Fla., announced a congressional subcommittee will hold a hearing titled “Academic Freedom Under Attack: Loosening the CCP’s Grip on America’s Classrooms.”
Bean, who leads the U.S. House Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, announced the subcommittee will hold the hearing on Tuesday.
The Northeast Florida Republican weighed in on why he was holding the hearing.
“From pushing propaganda and conducting espionage to undermining American education and indoctrinating students, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is waging a new era of war in our classrooms. A shocking report from Parents Defending Education revealed that 143 K-12 schools across the country—in 34 states—have been compromised by the CCP,” said Bean. “This hearing will assist in informing the Committee’s efforts to keep our adversaries at bay and protect our students, schools, and curriculum.”
Bean was elected to Congress in 2022 after serving in both chambers of the Florida Legislature, rising to become president pro tempore of the state Senate.
