A recent ADP report cited in a Tampa Bay Business Journal article indicates rising wage growth in Florida, with median salaries increasing for workers who have stayed in their jobs for at least a year. Over the past year, these workers saw a 4.7% wage increase, resulting in a median annual salary of $52,100. Nationally, the median pay for job stayers rose to $59,200, with wage growth reaching 4.8% for the first time in over two years, while job changers experienced a 7.2% increase.
Additionally, Florida Commerce’s latest press release reported a statewide unemployment rate at 3.4% in November, up slightly from 3.3% since April. This equates to about 376,000 Floridians being unemployed, an increase of 7,000 from October, within a labor force of 11.015 million.
“Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.4 percent in November 2024, up 0.1 percentage point from the October 2024 rate, and up 0.3 percentage point from a year ago,” Florida Commerce’s release reads. “There were 376,000 jobless Floridians out of a labor force of 11,015,000. The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.2 percent in November. Florida’s seasonally adjusted total nonagricultural employment was 10,010,500 in November 2024, an increase
of 61,500 jobs (+0.6 percent) over the month. The state gained 163,900 jobs over the year, an increase of 1.7 percent. Nationally, the number of jobs rose 1.4 percent over the year. With the addition of 61,500 jobs in November 2024, Florida’s Total Nonagricultural employment level is 26,500 jobs higher than in September
2024, before Hurricanes Helene and Milton made landfall.”
