Affordability Issue Favors Democrats, but Florida GOP Still Seeing Red In 2026

The latest Fox News polling shows Democrats are up over Republicans by 14% on the topic of affordability, 14% on helping the middle class, and 21% on healthcare.

Whereas the GOP leads Democrats by 15% on border security, 12% on keeping the U.S. safe, and by 5 points on the issue of immigration.

On the topic of affordability, some GOP consultant’s castaway the recent analysis by Fox pollsters stating Democrats haven’t released a plan to deal with the issue.

But others noted that in 2010, Republicans didn’t “release a plan” to counter Obamacare but instead opposed it and voters rewarded them with a 63 seat pick up in the U.S. House.

In 2018, the U.S. had a good economy under the Trump administration but that didn’t stop Democrats from winning 41 seats to flip congress to their control.

In Florida, some democrats have been slightly giddy over a recent analysis by the University of Virginia’s Larry Sabato’s “The Crystall Ball”, who says Florida’s U.S. Senate seat currently held by GOP Senator Ashley Moody, has shifted from “Safe Republican to “likely Republican.

Florida pollster and top media consultant Steve Vancore said that democrat’s electoral performance in 2025 showed they can win.

“But Florida will stay Republican despite what Dr. Sabato’s’ prediction is, it’s not going to change at all” said Vancore.

The analysis does benefit Democrats slightly but not enough to win the Senate seat here in Florida.

Two other election observers, Inside Elections and the Cook Political Report have said as of now Florida still looks as a solid Republican state.

Florida GOP voters still lead Democrats by almost 1.5 million but there are around 3.4 million Florida voters who are registered Independent.
