After Debate, Trump’s Election Winner Odds Drop

According to Vegas sports books, former President Donald Trump’s odds at winning this year have been up over Kamala Harris. But following Tuesday night’s debate, his numbers took a dip.

Top US sports betting group Vegas Insider says Trump’s odds took a 4-point dip after the presidential debate.

According to the betting odds, Trump had a 7-point lead over Harris heading into the debate. However, after their first debate, the odds show a tighter race.

Donald Trump: 51.43%

Kamala Harris: 50.07%

Daily and weekly, Vegas Insider has been tracking the betting odds on the 2024 race.

Many felt Trump’s debate performance did not meet expectations, and “with the media and the world still reacting to his performance, the odds have seemingly been rebalanced with Trump’s lead being reduced to just 1.36%,” said Vegas Insider.

Experts point out that Harris had an implied probability of 48.68% the day before the debate, and her strategy of baiting Trump seemed to work effectively. However, the former President came across as incoherent at times, and this is reflected in the odds with the probability of a Trump second term drifting.

Vegas Insider said the numbers could change before and after the debate if the Harris and Trump campaigns agree to another one.

To help individuals understand how a presidential odds tracker works, sports betting groups like Vegas Insider use data collection that actively aggregates data from diverse odds providers, ensuring a comprehensive and balanced perspective on election forecasts.

This includes processing timeliness and accuracy. Using Python and advanced data transformation techniques, the collected data is processed and standardized using different sources, producing an aggregate and synthesizing odds from various providers.
