Johnny Morris, the man who founded Bass Pro Shops and a noted conservationist, announced his support for the Yes on 2′ Campaign to preserve fishing and hunting rights for Floridians.
Florida’s proposed Admendment 2 would preserve fishing and hunting as a public right and preferred means of responsibly managing fish and wildlife in the state.
“We are proud to pledge our support to the Yes on 2 Campaign which will preserve fishing and hunting in the great state of Florida,” said Johnny Morris. “Sportsmen and women are the backbone of the North American Model of Conservation, as self-imposed excise taxes on sporting gear and the purchase of fishing and hunting licenses generate most of the funding for fish and wildlife agencies. We are honored to stand alongside all who love the great outdoors to ensure the traditions we love are available for future generations to enjoy.”
Luke Hilgemann, Executive Director for the International Order of T. Roosevelt and Yes on 2 National Chairman, praised Morris for his support.
“Johnny Morris is a modern-day Theodore Roosevelt, committed to conserving our nation’s greatest natural resources,” Hilgemann said “Bass Pro Shops has a special connection with their customers, and Johnny’s endorsement and support of this important mission is sure to have a measurable impact on the success of Amendment 2.”
Yes on 2 Campaign Chairman Joshua Kellam, a former Commissioner at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and President/CEO of The Garcia Companies, predicted that Amendment 2 will due to the support of Morris and sportsmen across the Sunshine State.
“We began this campaign knowing that in order to pass Amendment 2, we must activate Florida’s fishing and hunting community, even those who may not regularly vote,” Kellam said . “We are thrilled to launch this outreach effort with Johnny Morris and Bass Pro Shops, because we are confident this partnership will bring us that much closer to meeting conservation-conscious anglers and hunters where they are.”
Yes on 2 has been endorsed by many important conservation organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, American Sportfishing Association and many more.
