Biden Administration Pushes for Free Condoms, Birth Control to Via Affordable Care Act

Some are calling it an Election Day gimmick as the Biden administration wants a new rule under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, where birth control pills and condoms could be picked up for free over the counter from local stores without a prescription.

Currently, health insurance companies pay for the cost of prescribed contraception, which includes birth control and condoms that are prescribed to patients by their local doctor, but the new proposal would mandate insurance companies to pick up the tab no matter what. If adopted, it would start in 2025.

The rule comes under the Departments of Health and Human Services, Labor, and the Treasury.

David Williams from the Taxpayer Protection Alliance says this move is nothing more than an Election Day Christmas package for votes.

“If a customer wants their birth control needs met, they have it covered through their premium they pay with their insurance, instead liberals want this mandated and who picks up the cost? The taxpayer,” said Williams.

Conservatives point out this move to is to get the pro-abortion crowd out to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris as she promises to expand abortion rights under the umbrella of “expanding women’s health care access.”

Democrats are not shy about who should pay for it. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said that issuers and providers have “an obligation to comply with the law.”

The White House says for the first time ever, women would be able to obtain over-the-counter contraception without a prescription at no additional cost, and health plans would have to cover even more prescribed contraceptives without cost sharing.

“It doesn’t matter how they try to sell it, under Obamacare’s mandates, consumers saw their private and group health insurance premiums, if not by hundred but by thousands of dollars each year because of the health care mandates the federal government imposed in it legislation and we are seeing it all over again,” said David Williams.
