With Hurricane Dorian becoming less and less of a threat to Florida, a congressman from the Sunshine State is calling for his supporters to help out the Bahamas which were devastated by that storm.
U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., sent out an email to supporters on Wednesday morning, urging them to support the Bahamian Red Cross.
“As Floridians, we are no strangers to the destruction of hurricanes,” Mast noted. “The Bahamas has been slammed by Hurricane Dorian.
“In the coming days, our neighbor will begin the rebuilding process, but the most vulnerable will need organizations like the Red Cross for years. Please, join me in supporting the Bahamian Red Cross,” Mast added.
Mast, who lost both of his legs during his Army service in Afghanistan, was first elected to Congress in 2016 and represents a swing district which consists of all of Martin and St. Lucie Counties and parts of Palm Beach County.
While he is expected to be a target for Democrats in next year’s election, so far Mast has not drawn an opponent.
