Democrats are taking aim at U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., but the second term congressman is pushing back.
After being targeted by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) earlier this year, Mast came out swinging this week, taking aim at U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY.
“Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and their allies are fighting daily to convince a new generation of Americans that socialism is better than capitalism,” Mast insisted on Wednesday night before showcasing his service in the military which included losing his legs in Afghanistan. “I served this country – fighting for our freedom – for more than 12 years in the military. I will not let our fight be in vain! America is the greatest country on earth because we wake up in the morning with the freedom to make each day better than the last. But a new generation of socialist politicians wants to change the very fabric of what makes our country great.”
“We must send them a clear message: The United States of America will never be a socialist country,” Mast added.
Mast insisted he “fighting for conservative policies like balancing the budget, cutting taxes” and a smaller government and maintained the Democrats will double Americans’ taxes and “destroy Medicare as we know it.”
First elected to Congress in a swing district in 2016, Mast was a top target for the DCCC in 2018 but he won with 54 percent of the vote.
