This week, U.S. Rep. Carlos Giménez, R-Fla., threw his support behind the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024, insisting it will help Florida.
Giménez represents thousands of service members and their families and multiple military facilities, including the Homestead Air Reserve Base (HARB), the Naval Air Station in Key West, Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), and the Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF-South).
“In this year’s NDAA, I prioritized protecting Homestead Air Reserve Base for its intended use, securing pay increases for our service members, and ensuring our men and women in uniform have access to affordable housing,” said Giménez “I look forward to continue working in a bipartisan way to strengthen our military and guarantee that the United States is capable of deterring the growing threats posed by Communist China.”
In this NDAA, Congressman Giménez fought to preserve HARB and prevent joint use, authorized over $240 million to reduce out-of-pocket housing expenses for service members, supported a 5.2 percent increase in pay, strengthen ties with Taiwan and other allies in the Indo-Pacific, and counter Communist China’s incursion into our hemisphere.
Giménez represents the Southernmost district of the continental United States, including Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys. Giménez serves on the Select Committee on China, and the Homeland Security Committee, and the first member of Congress from Miami-Dade to ever serve on the Armed Services Committee.
