Carlos Giménez: Time to Ban Travel Between China and U.S. as New Illness Emerges

U.S. Rep. Carlos Giménez, R-Fla., is joining a growing chorus of Florida Republicans wanting to limit travel between China and the U.S.

Giménez “called for a ban on travel between China and the United States amid reports that a mysterious respiratory illness is once again spreading in China. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) lies and lack of transparency robbed the United States of vital knowledge of the disease and its origins and hampered our ability to respond.”

The South Florida congressman joined U.S. Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Rick Scott, and U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn, R-Fla., on the matter.

“Four years after the coronavirus pandemic ravaged the world, there is a mysterious new respiratory illness once again spreading in China. During the coronavirus pandemic, the CCP’s lies and lack of transparency regarding the disease and its origin robbed the U.S. of vital knowledge and hampered our ability to respond,” said Giménez. “Communist China cannot be trusted. Until more is known about this mysterious illness, we must immediately ban all travel between Communist China and the United States to guard our public health and protect our country.”

“The CCP has a long history lying to the international community about public health crises. Until more is known about this pathogen, the United States must ban travel between the U.S. and China to prevent this mysterious illness from reaching our shores,” the congressman’s office noted.
