Central Florida Man Sentenced to Nearly 3 Years for Possessing Modified Machine Gun

ORLANDO, Fla. — A federal judge has sentenced a 27-year-old Orlando man to nearly three years in prison after authorities discovered a modified firearm during a traffic stop.

Senior U.S. District Judge John Antoon II sentenced Timothy Aden-Alan Calhoun to two years and ten months in federal prison for possession of a machine gun. Calhoun, who pleaded guilty on February 25, 2025, was also ordered to forfeit the weapon involved in the case.

According to court records, officers with the Maitland Police Department stopped Calhoun while he was riding a stolen motorcycle. During a search following his arrest, officers found a Glock 19 handgun equipped with an extended magazine and a conversion device that rendered it fully automatic. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) later confirmed the weapon had been modified into a machine gun.

The case was investigated by the ATF and Maitland Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael P. Felicetta and Kaley Austin-Aronson.

Calhoun’s prosecution was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a nationwide initiative led by the U.S. Department of Justice aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through coordinated enforcement and community partnerships.
