This week, U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist, D-Fla., announced that he will serve as the vice-chairman of the U.S. House Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (CJS) Appropriations Subcommittee.
First elected to Congress in 2016, Crist has been on the U.S. House Appropriations Committee and the CJS Appropriations Subcommittee since 2019. He’ll serve under U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-Penn., who chairs the subcommittee and U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Ct., who leads the Appropriations Committee.
Crist noted that he can use the post to help with criminal justice and environmental issues.
“I’m grateful to Chairwoman DeLauro and Chairman Cartwright for the opportunity to serve as Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science,” said Crist. “I look forward to continuing our work on the issues that matter most to Floridians: protecting our environment, serving those who have served our nation, and building back our communities and small businesses as we rebound from COVID-19. From securing funding to fight red tide, to improving federal marijuana policy, to supporting Florida’s aerospace industry, this new leadership role will allow me to continue delivering for the Sunshine State.”
Crist is also on the U.S. House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee and the U.S. House Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee.
