State House Speaker Chris Sprowls, R-Palm Harbor, appointed state Rep. Spencer Roach, R-North Fort Myers, to the Statewide Drug Policy Advisory Council this week.
“Representative Roach’s experience as a counter-narcotics officer and service in the United States Coast Guard will make him a valuable addition to the Statewide Drug Policy Advisory Council,” said Sprowls. “I am confident Representative Roach will bring effective solutions for Florida’s families and victims of drug addiction, and I am proud to appoint him to this Council.”
The Drug Policy Advisory Council coordinates drug control efforts for the entire State of Florida by educating the public on substance abuse and the resources available.
Earlier this year, Sprowls named Roach as the vice-chairman of the Florida House of Representatives’ Public Integrity and Elections Committee and as a member of the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Subcommittee. In the previous session, he served on the Health and Human Services Committee and on the Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee.
As a retired Judge Advocate for the United States Coast Guard, Roach spent 20 years in the Coast Guard.
