Democrats’ Demands for ICE Defunding Causes Delays At Florida Airports

When there are delays at the airport its normally because of the weather.

But this time it’s from Democrats who have partially shut down the federal government by demanding that (ICE) Immigrations and Customs Enforcement be defunded.

Because of this move by Democrats, Floridians are seeing long lines and hours of delay before they can fly on an airplane.

Because thousands of TSA agents aren’t getting paid, hundreds have either quit or called out sick, causing further delays.

Orlando CBS affiliate WKMG reported major delays at Orlando International Airport, with storms compounding the delays faced by travelers due to the partial government shutdown.

NBC News from South Florda reported that the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood-International Airport saw over 420 delays and 50 cancellations, and Miami International Airport had over 500 delays and 23 cancellations

South Florida NBC6 interviewed people trying to board the plane and said they had been waiting in line for over two hours just to get into the building to check in, with others saying their flights had been delayed three or four times.

In North Florida is feeling the pain as well.

Due to the absence of TSA agents, travelers at Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) are feeling the impact of the partial government shutdown, with passengers waiting in line and flights being cancelled, according to WJXT.

Just recently, Airline CEOs are asking Democrats and other elected leaders to stop hurting industry and its workers.

CEOs of nine shipping and airline companies are begging Democrats to stop treating the Department of Homeland Security like a “political football.”

In an open letter to Congressional leaders, the CEOs wrote that forcing 50,000 TSA officers to work without pay is “simply unacceptable” and warned of “painfully slow” waits at airports across the country.
