On Wednesday, Destinations Florida released an updated version of its report, Destination Promotion: Empowering Florida’s Growth, which outlines the benefits tourism provides the state of Florida and the need for tourism promotion.
The revised report tackles challenges to tourism growth, including a new section on the pandemic response, as well as misconceptions about tourism promotion. Comprehensive information about the roles local tourism promotion organizations, Visit Florida and the private sector play within the industry are included. New graphics also detail how competitive the tourism industry is both domestically and internationally.
The information within this report helps state lawmakers, policymakers and local elected officials understand the value tourism brings, the need for tourism promotion in order to have a healthy, vibrant tourism industry and how a multi-layered approach to tourism promotion works best for Florida.
“The tourism industry will be vital to Florida’s economic recovery following the pandemic response. As we head into legislative session, it is important that any tourism-related policies or legislation considered support one of state’s top economic drivers and job generators so the industry can do its part – as it has in the past – to help Florida rebound,” said Robert Skrob, the executive director of Destinations Florida. “We hope this revised report will serve as a resource to many seeking to learn more about the industry and how tourism promotion has been successful in making Florida one of the top destinations in the world.”
Destinations Florida is the statewide association that serves local tourism promotion organizations.
