Dr. Ed Moore: Messaging Matters

Lots of pundit, party, and politician talk about why and how Donald Trump did so well and why the accumulative tent he created this election was possible.
Frankly, I do not think it’s all that complex. Look back over the last three months. To me, it’s all about the kind of messaging that has taken place. The Harris team carved people up into a collection of single-issue voters. Their messages targeted those quite disparate groups, thinking that the assemblage of disparate and unrelated voters would turn out for her.

They guessed wrong.

Trump’s messages were directed at the American kitchen tables, where the larger and more comprehensive issues were the topics of concern and discussion. Every table, even in those homes that may have had some single-issue priority, also understood the twin messages of safety/security and the old “it’s the economy stupid” concept.

Combine the border and crime issues, along with increasing numbers of global hotspots and you cover safety/security.
Combine groceries, transportation, costs of living, high interest rates, wages, reduced affordable housing, and larger trade issues and you find high concerns about economic insecurity.

Trump and his team cast a stronger, larger net and captured more fish. Harris and her team cane pole fished on as many small ponds they could access. The era of buying-off specific demographics with promises and tokens is gone. The new ‘media’ era has created a more highly -informed electorate. They will not be pandered to, and will continue to demand meat on their kitchen tables they can afford to buy over false promises and short term gifts.

It’s a new ballgame going forward.
