FBI Data Shows Florida Cities Safest Than Most from Violent Crimes

On the issue of crime, it looks like it’s another win for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Data Explorer shows that some cities in the state are experiencing lower rates of violent crime.

Cape Coral has the lowest rate of violent crime, while three more Florida cities appear in the top 10 of the least violent cities in the country.

Memphis has the highest rate of violence, followed by St. Louis with the second highest rate of violent crime, and Cleveland is third.

A total of 25 violent crimes were included in the study, including but not limited to:

1.    Trafficking

2.    Assault

3.    Drug offences

4.    Homicide

5.    Kidnapping

Florida’s findings:

Cape Coral records the lowest rate of violent crime. Tallahassee came in third. Miami Gardens follows in fourth with Miramar ranking seventh. The FBI statistics indicate that Florida stands out as the only state with four cities included in the list of those with the lowest violent crime rates per 100,000 residents.

The Florida city with the highest rate of violent crime is Gainesville, which ranks 131st nationwide.

David Gammill, Founder and Trial Lawyer of Gammill Law Accident and Injury Lawyers says the cities with high rates of crime have a negative impact on the community’s real estate, family upbringing, education, as well as local government resources.

‘If crime is incredibly prevalent in a particular city then officials will naturally want to increase the levels of law enforcement there too. This means that funding for other aspects of community are perhaps put on the back burner, which can have detrimental effects on the community too,’ said Gammill.
