In a targeted operation to enhance public safety, U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Miami Sector, working closely with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, apprehended 10 undocumented migrants over the past three weeks. All individuals arrested have prior convictions as sex offenders.
The coordinated multi-agency operation focused on the Florida Keys, resulting in the removal of dangerous individuals from local neighborhoods. According to authorities, all 10 suspects were registered sex offenders with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and had been living across the Florida Keys.
Their criminal histories include convictions for offenses such as:
- Lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 16
- Lewd and lascivious sexual battery involving a victim aged 12-15
- Statutory sexual seduction
- Solicitation of a child
In addition to these arrests, Miami Sector Border Patrol agents, with ICE assistance, detained two other Cuban nationals last week. One was previously convicted of homicide, and the other faces charges of animal cruelty following reports of him violently choking and kicking a small dog.
Officials say these apprehensions emphasize the ongoing risks posed by individuals entering the U.S. illegally with violent criminal pasts. The operation reflects the collaboration and effectiveness of federal, state, and local agencies in addressing these threats.
“Each of these individuals posed a threat to the communities which we live in. The Miami Sector Border Patrol remains committed to protecting our communities and enforcing our immigration laws,” stated Chief Patrol Agent Jeffrey Dinise. “I am grateful for the work of our agents and law enforcement partners who supported this effort.”
All arrested individuals were processed and handed over to ICE, where they remain in custody pending removal proceedings.
