Florida Democratic Leader Gives Odd Response to President Trump’s Bombing of Iran

After learning about nuclear sites in Iran were hit by the order of President Donald Trump, Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried gave a strange response.

“I learned of the U.S. bombing of Iran,” Fried said. “I saw the shock and fear on the faces of my colleague’s backstage as we tried to process the gravity of what had just happened. But what unites the majority of Americans—and much of the world—is the clear understanding that Donald Trump is not the leader we need at this moment. In an administration that operates lawlessly and runs on chaos, lies, and ignorance, Trump does not possess the wisdom of a great leader. He is not equipped to handle this crisis because he’s neutered all of the intelligence agencies and sidelined all the expert military generals. It’s shameful that he is politicizing a critical moment in world history by excluding Democratic leadership and only including Republicans in the war decision.Iran must not have a nuclear weapon, but Donald Trump cannot be trusted to choose what is best for our country. I pray for the safety of our troops, and I call on the President to immediately bring this matter before Congress, as our Constitution requires.”

Central Florida Democratic Congressman Maxwell Frost, who boldly touts his left wing mindset, condemned the strike.

“This is an escalation that will lead to more death, Frost said. “Congress must reconvene immediately to stop the President from pushing us into war.”

But not all Florida Democrats are on board to come across “anti-Trump” following the attack on Iran’s nuclear failures.

Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz gave a light approval of the U.S. bombing. “In the face of diplomatic failure, a window was opened that allowed these strikes to severely diminish Iran’s nuclear capabilities. “The Congresswoman said any offensive military action will require approval from Congress and she was not in support of any further military action against Iran without that approval.

U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz supported the attacks on Iran said.

I’ve always held that Iran cannot be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon,” Moskowitz said. “That has been US policy throughout Democratic and Republican Administrations, and it is my hope that Iran no longer has the capabilities to continue its nuclear program. The world would be a safer place.

Today, the President made what appears to be a targeted strike to defend the United States, Israel, and allies throughout the region and the world. I pray for our troops and their families both at home and abroad, and am grateful to our armed forces who were active in this mission.

Now, Iran must come to the table to finally make a deal. Their regime has had multiple opportunities to pursue diplomacy, and perhaps today’s events will push them to this safer path. That’s something we should all prefer and something I’ll continue to push for on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

I am also a firm believer in congressional authority & oversight. Any offensive action must come to Congress for a vote.

I hope this is contained, but we are living in unprecedented times—and it’s critical our leaders work on a bipartisan basis to protect our nation.”

Florida’s two US Senators Ashley Moody and Rick Scott, both Republicans, expressed their support for the strikes following Trump’s speech to the nation about the operation on Saturday evening.
