With momentum building in the race, candidate Clarence James is continuing to secure backing from key voices across Northeast Florida—particularly among those in uniform.
James, who has already drawn notable support from members of the law enforcement and firefighting communities, picked up another high-profile endorsement this week from Wyman Duggan.
Duggan, a prominent figure in the Florida House, pointed to both personal experience and James’ track record in public service as reasons for his support.
“You never forget tough races,” Duggan said. “I’ll never forget those who knocked on doors and were there for me. Clarence James was there for me.”
The lawmaker also emphasized what he described as James’ work ethic and perspective shaped by public safety experience.
“Clarence James has always been a hard worker and a dedicated public servant,” Duggan added. “His law enforcement perspective is absolutely vital to the School Board and to keeping our students safe.”
James’ campaign has increasingly centered on school safety and community engagement—issues that resonate strongly with first responders, many of whom have rallied behind his candidacy.
With Duggan’s endorsement, the campaign gains not only political backing but also further validation from leaders closely connected to Florida’s legislative and public safety communities.
As the race continues, James appears to be consolidating support from both grassroots advocates and established officials—an alignment that could prove influential in the weeks ahead.
