Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says state and local law enforcement have rounded up about 20,000 people who were living in the state illegally.
The U.S. Census Bureau released data showing the U.S. is seeing a negative net migration, touted by the Trump administration.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a statement that its mass deportation efforts had helped achieve the Trump administration’s apparent goal.
“In just one year, nearly 3 million illegal aliens have left the U.S. under the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration,” said DHS.
Figures released by the Census Bureau showed population growth slowed significantly over the past fiscal year, increasing by 0.5% or 1.8 million people between July 2024 and July 2025.
Ben Domenech from The Federalist warns the GOP about walking away from the immigration issue. He says, despite how the media is covering the latest on what happened in Minnesota, the big question facing Republicans is how they can respond to how Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol agents are doing their jobs.
Domenech also says that coming up with an answer that satisfies voters could decide whether November’s midterm elections allow Trump to continue his transformative agenda — or whether a Democratic tidal wave sweeps a generation of leftist radicals into both houses of Congress.
“If that happens, it won’t matter who is serving as DHS secretary after November: Whoever it is will be targeted by incoming Democrat radicals for impeachment,” he said.
Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan recently said that ICE, in cooperation with the FBI and the Office of Refugee Resettlement, has located more than 145,000 illegal immigrant children, out of the more than 300,000 that were let into the United States by the Biden administration.
