Last August, Florida Republican Congressman Greg Steube introduced articles of impeachment against President Biden. ‘It’s long past time to impeach Joe Biden,’ said the Congressman.
Steube has support from other Florida Republicans. Then, in December, House Republicans authorized an impeachment inquiry into the business deals when President Biden was serving as Vice President, and his son Hunter.
Ultimately, a vote of impeaching the president may not happen, instead, it may just be a report of the findings of the impeachment inquiry.
The Congressman leading the charge is House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer, from Kentucky. Over the last year, Comer says they have the proof that the Biden family benefited from more than $20 million dollars taken from foreign payments as “pay for play.”
But Comer tells Spectrum News that a vote on impeaching Biden may not happen at all. The “math keeps getting worse” as Comer admits he probably doesn’t have the numbers for impeachment as the GOP-controlled House is limited on support for impeachment following the loss of the special election in New York last week.
Comer has received criticism from both sides of the aisle and those on Fox News and other outlets. Spectrum News reported that Some inside the GOP House are not happy with his inquiry in areas that it’s not moving fast enough or there simply isn’t any evidence of Biden receiving direct dollars from his son’s business dealings.
Reality may be setting in as Comer has admitted that a conviction of Biden in the U.S. Senate is unlikely.
“The accountability, I hope, will come this year, but it may come next year with a new president, a new attorney general. “At the end of the day, my goal is to get the truth out there and hold people accountable for wrongdoing. That may encompass impeachment. If it doesn’t, that’s fine with me,” Comer said.
