Florida Senators Rick Scott, Ashley Moody Support Kash Patel Confirmation

Florida’s two US Senators, Ashley Moody and Rick Scott, both Republicans, voted YES in support of the confirmation of Kash Patel as the new director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

With most Republicans expected to vote in favor of confirming all of President Donald Trump‘s nominees, Moody and Scott have stayed aligned with their party and with their stances since Patel was originally nominated.

Less than 30 days into her new role as a US Senator, Moody had already expressed strong support for Kash Patel’s nomination as FBI Director, emphasizing his potential to reform the agency and eliminate internal biases.

During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Moody highlighted Patel’s commitment to refocusing the FBI on its core mission, suggesting that his leadership would boost morale among agents eager to return to essential law enforcement duties.

“The rank and file want to get back to doing their jobs… of bringing to bear the promise of a country and a free people living under a rule of law that is effectually enforced,” Moody said.

Moody also addressed concerns about Patel’s unconventional background, noting that while he hasn’t served in the upper echelons of the FBI, his extensive federal experience makes him a suitable candidate to set a new course for the agency. She remarked, “Don’t we want a nontraditional candidate at this moment in time, with extensive federal experience?”

On X, the social network formerly known as Twitter, Moody posted:

Kash Patel is ready to dismantle the Deep State and refocus the FBI on its true mission. It’s time to get him confirmed and working for the American people.”

On two separate occasions, Scott utilized social media to signal his staunch support of Patel. On Jan. 30th, Scott wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter: “Americans have lost all trust in the FBI. President Trump’s nominee for FBI Director, Kash Patel, is making it clear he’s the right pick to fix it, and I’m proud to support him.”

On Feb. 17th, Scott added a second pledge to put Patel across the finish line: “President Trump’s nominee for FBI Director, Kash Patel, has a plan to fix the FBI and restore trust and transparency in our federal government. We need him in charge of the FBI, and this week, we’re going to get it done.
