In Florida, Washington County is west of Tallahassee and north of Panama City.
Over the last 2 years, Sheriff Kevin Crews and his office have made some significant progress in stopping the flow of meth in his county.
Crews just announced that 5 arrests were made in “Operation King of the Hill.”
The investigation uncovered the trafficking and distribution of an estimated 50–70 pounds of methamphetamine into Washington County between March 2025 and June 2026.
Florida Attorney General (AG) James Uthmeier stopped in Washington County to applaud Sheriff Kevin Crews, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Commissioner Mark Glass, the State Attorney’s Office of the 14th Judicial Circuit, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), among several other agencies that were involved with the arrest.
AG Uthmeier also visited Holmes County Sheriff John Tate to thank him for helping lower the state’s crime rate.
Uthmeier said Sheriffs like Tate have helped tremendously in lowering the state’s crime rate by combating fentanyl with increased penalties, and numbers show the state has seen a decline in overdose deaths by 50%.
The AG said these local sheriffs and first responders have helped with local communities, highlighting the lowest crime rates in Florida history.
