Anthony Bonna Lands Endorsement from Rep. Toby Overdorf in Florida House District 85 Race
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Port St. Lucie City Councilman Anthony Bonna has secured the endorsement of State Rep. Toby Overdorf as Bonna campaigns to succeed the term-limited lawmaker in Florida House District 85.
Overdorf, who currently represents portions of Martin and St. Lucie counties in the Florida House of Representatives, announced his support for Bonna this week, citing the city councilman’s record of public service and involvement in the local community.
“Anthony Bonna has been a consistent force for the Republican Party of Florida and the people of St. Lucie County,” Overdorf said in a statement. “Through his private and public service, he has demonstrated a consistent willingness to serve. Today I am proud to fully endorse and support him to succeed me in District 85 representing Martin and St. Lucie County.”
Bonna, who serves on the Port St. Lucie City Council and previously served as a St. Lucie County commissioner, welcomed the endorsement and praised Overdorf’s tenure in Tallahassee.
“Toby has been a strong advocate for lower taxes and fees, fighting human trafficking, and protecting Florida’s natural resources,” Bonna said. “I am honored to have his endorsement and support, and I look forward to building on that record as we work to keep Florida free and strong.”
The endorsement adds to a growing list of supporters backing Bonna’s campaign. His campaign said endorsements have also come from Americans for Prosperity, Associated Industries of Florida, Florida Realtors, Florida Right to Life PAC, the Police Benevolent Association, St. Lucie County Sheriff Richard Del Toro, State Attorney Tom Bakkedahl, and several local elected officials across Martin and St. Lucie counties.
Florida House District 85 encompasses portions of Martin and St. Lucie counties. The seat will be open in 2026 as Overdorf reaches his term limit in the Florida House.
