Florida’s Crime Rate 24% Below National Average

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the GOP run state legislature have passed laws putting harsher penalties on those committing felonies.

FBI crime data, going back to 2023, shows that Florida has the tenth-lowest total crime rate, based on FBI crime data, when it comes to family safety.

The FBI breakdown looked at crimes against persons, property, and society to identify which states have the highest and lowest total crime rates

The crime rate in Florida is 24% below the U.S. average. 

Florida recorded the ninth-lowest rate of total offenses against property. This includes incidents of larceny, theft, and destruction, damage, or vandalism.

New research has identified the most and least dangerous states for purchasing property and settling down.

Eden Emerald Buyers Agent is one of many real estate companies that is using FBI data that could be helpful for clients looking to purchase a home in certain locations.

The top two states with the lowest total crime rates.

Maine is the safest state to settle down, recording the lowest total crime rate. 39% below the U.S. average.

Hawaii has the second-lowest total crime rate, which is 38% less than the U.S. average. 

Using crime data in real estate: benefits, limitations, and statistics

One real estate agent told Florida Daily that real estate agents must be careful because of a specific law that could prevent them from disclosing information on crime rates or expressing opinions on neighborhood safety, but clients need to understand that the impact of crime on property values is still crucial for both realtors and buyers. 

Real estate analysts point out that having access to crime data published by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies helps potential buyers when buying a piece of property, and if crime rates are high in a particular area, this can affect property values and give buyers leverage in negotiations.
