Florida’s Full Sail University Confirms 100+ Layoffs, Including Faculty

Full Sail University has confirmed it has laid off 120 employees as part of a broader effort to align staffing with its current institutional priorities and long-term goals.

In a statement provided to the Orlando Business Journal (OBJ) on May 14, the Winter Park-based for-profit institution said the job cuts include some faculty positions at its main campus located at 3300 University Blvd.

“We stand firmly committed to providing an exceptional educational experience,” the university said. “There will be no changes to our course offerings or services as we remain confident in our ability to meet the needs of our students and graduates.”

As of midday May 14, a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) filing had not been submitted to the Florida Department of Commerce in relation to the layoffs.

Founded in 1979, Full Sail University offers associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs both online and on campus. It reported more than 2,655 employees as of January, making it the largest employer in Winter Park, according to OBJ research. As of fall 2023, the school had 21,761 students enrolled either online or in person.
