University ranking site Research.com analyzed over 1,700 colleges and universities and the cost of tuition, room, board, and supplies. The aim is to provide prospective students with key insights into affordable college options across the U.S. and reveal which offer the lowest cost of living nationally and by state.
Four Florida colleges rank among the top 50 most affordable options for students in the U.S..
At the top of the list was Tallahassee Community College. They offer students the lowest cost of living in Florida, (18th nationally) It ranks the most affordable Florida college for student living, with total yearly costs estimated at $14,343 for tuition, dorms, and supplies, which is 57% less than the national average of $32,990 per year.
This is followed by Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers (38th nationally). The study reveals average annual costs are an estimated $16,513 for students.
Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee ranks third in the state (48th nationally) for affordability, followed by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, which is fourth in Florida (50th nationally).
The University of West Florida in Pensacola rounds out Florida’s top five most affordable colleges.
Research.com says despite the rise in living costs across the United States over recent years, it is promising to see that there are so many college options for prospective students that have a lower cost of living, far below the national average for these institutions.
