Amid rising economic uncertainties, Florida’s trusted and proven college savings program is offering families a safe, guaranteed option to save for college for less than it costs new parents to buy a box of diapers each month.

Committed to its founding mission of making college savings affordable for every Floridian, the Florida Prepaid College Board is offering prepaid tuition plan prices for as little as $29/month – the most affordable pricing in over a decade, and an overall savings of $800.

The Florida 529 Prepaid Plan allows families to save for college in a way that is risk-free and stress-free by locking in future college coverage at today’s historic low prices. Families pick a Prepaid Plan and make their payments. With the ups and downs of the stock market, or how much tuition might go up. The State of Florida guarantees all Prepaid Plan,s so families can never lose their investment.

The open enrollment window to take advantage of these prices ends April 30, 2025. Florida Pre-Paid says the earlier you start, the lower your monthly cost — starting at just $29/month for a 1-Year University Plan.

The 1-Year University Plan covering 30 credit hours is the most affordable and can be “stacked” over time to cover additional years. The reduced prices result in savings of up to $850 per plan for a 1-Year University Plan – and up to $3,400 in savings for four years.

“No stock market risk, no tuition hikes to worry about, your child’s college costs are locked in,” says Shannon C. Smith, spokesperson with Florida Prepaid.

Other opportunities include flexible payment options with plans that can even be shared or stacked with help from grandparents or godparents.

Smith says the program helps families without crushing student debt.

Statistics show Florida college grads carry over $38,000 in student loans. The latest data from Georgetown University’s Center for Education and the Workforce show 70% of jobs by 2030 will require some level of postsecondary education. “Prepaid Plans offer a way to save your child from that burden,’ says Smith.

The Florida Prepaid College Board has helped over 1.2 million families save for education over the last 36 years. And whether your child goes to a Florida school or one out-of-state, your investment is protected and guaranteed by the State of Florida.
