Francis Suarez: ‘I Want to be Known for What I’m for, for Freedom and Prosperity’

At the end of last week, in an interview presented on NewsNation’s Morning in America (weekdays, 6-10 a.m. ET), anchor Adrienne Bankert spoke with Republican presidential candidate Miami Mayor Francis Suarez.

Suarez discussed his 2024 presidential bid, saying, “I’m someone who’s young who’s fit, who has a vision for the country who can unify the country. I mean, no other candidate fits that profile.” He added, “I did it by following a formula keeping taxes low, keeping people safe, and as you said, leaning into innovation and creating prosperity.”

Suarez said the following:

On how he stands apart from other candidates:

“I’m someone who’s young who’s fit, who has a vision for the country who can unify the country. I mean, no other candidate fits that profile. In addition, I’m the only Hispanic candidate in the race from both parties so it gives me an opportunity to talk to a segment of our population that maybe no one is talking to. It can grow the party. It can allow me to also talk to young voters who Joe Biden won by 26 points, voters under 30, to people in urban communities, where I was elected by 85 percent and 80 percent. And I did it by following a formula keeping taxes low, keeping people safe, and as you said, leaning into innovation and creating prosperity.”

On what he wants to be known for and what he has accomplished in Miami:

“I want to be known for what I’m for, for freedom and prosperity. I’m for the fact that in the city of Miami, we’re number one in wage growth. We have the lowest unemployment in America, we were ranked the happiest city in America. And that’s important, because we’re all dealing with mental health issues and crises across this country. We focus on educational initiatives, where we gave every kindergartener in our city, a savings account so they can learn financial literacy. I raised money from the private sector to create a First in Family Scholarship Fund so that everyone who has a Pell Grant recipient and first in their family to go to college goes to college for free. That’s educational innovation. That’s opportunity. And that’s the kind of America that I want to create for every single citizen in this country.”
