FSU Wins Legal Battle to Access ACC Media Rights Contracts

Florida State University has been granted access to media rights contracts of the Atlantic Coast Conference. According to a press release from Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody,  the ACC capitulation’s is due to their obligation to comply with the Florida’s Public Records Act.
Since FSU’s football team was rejected from the NCAA final four playoff despite an undefeated season, FSU has attempted to expedite its departure from the conference, which was perceived as inferior to the other four conferences that constitute college football’s “Power 5” conferences.

“Our office’s legal action has resulted in an agreement from the ACC to produce secret media contracts that are at the heart of the legal wrangling between FSU and the ACC,” Moody said. “The conference refused to provide media contracts that detail the impact to FSU if it departs the conference, but now they are rightfully handing over these public records. We will continue to fight for transparency.”

Media rights contracts have been at the heart of legal wrangling between FSU and the ACC over the school’s efforts to leave the conference and any fines or penalties associated with the departure.
