‘Pathetic” was the word that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis described House Republicans over their failure to include border security in a foreign aid package that delivered funding for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.
DeSantis said House GOP leaders gave up their leverage to deal with the problems at the U.S. southern border.
Polls show that illegal immigration has become a top concern among voters in this year’s election.
“Republicans were sent there to address the No. 1 issue that our voters wanted them to address, and they basically just surrendered on the border. They now have no leverage to do anything on the border. They had an opportunity to insist that Biden accept the border if he wanted all the foreign aid, and they decided to capitulate,” said the Governor.
This isn’t the first time this year DeSantis has blasted members of his own party on this issue.
Last January, he went after Senate Republicans for doing the same thing on another immigration bill.
”I’m sick of Republicans,” DeSantis said. “You see what they’re doing right now in Washington with the senators doing some border agreement, which is basically caving on everything to the Democrats.”
DeSantis refers to polling data that shows the number increasing among Republicans and registered Independents supporting the deportation of illegals here in the U.S..
“Biden gets everything he wants, and Republican voters don’t get anything with respect to stopping this—this problem at the southern border…it’s just pathetic that that’s going on,” Says DeSantis.
