“COVID-19 is increasing at an alarming rate in our community and testing early and often is paramount to helping reduce the spread of this disease,” Pizzo said. “It is my hope that partnering with organizations in our community on events like this will help Miami get the support it deserves in fighting this pandemic and its economic repercussions.”

To date, more than 900,000 cases have been diagnosed and more than 18,000 Floridians have died from COVID-19. Miami-Dade County, alone, has contributed more than 200,000 cases and over 3,700 of those deaths.

Pizzo was elected to the Senate in 2018 and represents parts of Miami-Dade County.
