On Wednesday, in his role as state fire marshal, Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis said first responders and firefighters across the Sunshine State are ready to help with expanded testing for COVID-19.
Patronis was on a conference call with the Executive Boards of the Florida Fire Chiefs Association and the Florida Professional Firefighters to receive updates on COVID-19 response efforts. They talked about how firefighters can play a role as the state looks to expand testing.
“As we look to ramp up COVID-19 antibody testing throughout the state, our dedicated firefighters and paramedics are prepared to support these testing sites to aid in giving Floridians easy access to this vital resource,” Patrois said. “We must also ensure that our first responders are provided priority antibody testing so that our fire service community can properly scale response efforts and adjust staffing where appropriate.”
Patronis continued to praise the efforts of firefighters and first responders across the Sunshine State.
“These heroes continue to be the boots on the ground in the COVID-19 recovery efforts and I cannot thank them enough for their service,” Patronis said.
