K-12 Students At U.S. Military Schools Being Taught DEI Topics

An analysis by Open The Books (OTB) shows the Pentagon has been teaching Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI in its K-12 Public Schools.

The U.S Department of Defense operates 160 schools serving 70,000+ children of military personnel, K-12 students in the U.S., as well as eight districts that are located in 11 foreign countries, Guam and Puerto Rico. It also offers a Virtual High School option for students.

All this comes under the Department of Defense Education Activity, known as DODEA.

An analysis by Open The Books (OTB) shows the Pentagon has been teaching Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI in its K-12 Public Schools.

The auditors at OTB found school curriculums were teaching topics on systemic racism, social justice and more.

One class was engaging four-year-olds in LGBTQ+ conversations. Another elementary class had students discussing the diversity of gender expression and gender activity.

Educators facilitated classroom conversations and showed video content about implicit bias and systemic racism, human rights, equity, social justice, dissent, protest, and empathy.

Members of the Biden administration downplayed the accusations when the DEI courses came to light in 2022.

The investigation by Open the Books found the DoDEA never informed parents it was teaching young students “gender transitions” or having children talk about issues such as race, class, gender, and sexuality.

Books inside DOD school libraries included topics of race with the title “What is White Privilege?” And What Does It Mean to Defund Police? What is Anti-Racism?”

“These titles of social justice-oriented series were geared towards children and allowed by members of the Biden DOD,” said Adam Andrzejewski, CEO of Open the Books.

In October 2022, OTB found of all 160 DoD school libraries, at least 11 schools were carrying books promoting DEI. By January of 2023, that number jumped to 49 schools carrying books 606 books dealing with DEI.

However, a new audit in January 2023 revealed an extraordinary increase in those numbers: 49 schools now carry 606 copies. It’s more than a 1200% increase, despite the public controversy!

‘It’s critical that taxpayers understand the scope of the DEI philosophy within the DoD’s schools. Deployed servicemembers and other military-related personnel often have no alternative but to use the Pentagon-run school system, many of whom have no other education choices when stationed overseas,’ said Andrzejewski
