Eustis will soon be home to a major workforce training center. According to a report from the Orlando Business Journal, Lake-Sumter State College is collaborating with the city of Eustis to construct the complex near the northwest corner of State Road 44 and Hicks Ditch Road.
The complex will house a Commercial Driver’s License and Power Lineworkers Training Center, including a “5,567-square-foot classroom building and a 2,535-square-foot area for storage, as well as an outdoor area to have line truck inspections and a patio.” LSSC says that the new complex will allow them to double their current number of students enrolled in those two programs, which it currently offers only in Sumter County. It would serve 400 students per year across the programs. The college also has plans to start a 50,000-square-foot Workforce Development Center at its Leesburg Campus in early 2025.
College spokesman Kevin Yurasek told Orlando Business Journal in an email that the project will cost $5 million, construction will start this year and the facility will start operations in summer 2025.
