This week, Lauren’s Kids announced its recognition as a winner in the 2021 Suncoast Regional Emmy Awards in the Informational/Instructional category for their Safer, Smarter Kids Kindergarten curriculum.
The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences offers annual Regional Emmy Awards for media markets in the southeast region of the United States.
State Senate Minority Leader Lauren Book, D-Plantation, the founder and CEO of Lauren’s Kids, weighed in on the honor.
“There is nothing more important than keeping our children safe,” Book said. “One in three girls and one in five boys will become victims of child sexual abuse before the age of 18, but 95 percent of this abuse is preventable with education and awareness. Thank you to the Suncoast Regional Emmy team for helping to amplify our efforts to teach personal safety from a place of fun — not fear.”
Book teamed up with career educators and a developmental psychologist to create the Safer, Smarter Kids curriculum to not only educate children but also teachers and parents with a goal of “Engaging Teachers, Empowering Children, Educating Parents.” The curriculum teaches children from a place of fun, not fear and focuses on teaching children that they have the ability to protect themselves.
