Marco Rubio Calls on Democrats to Compromise With GOP on Another Coronavirus Relief Package

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., release a message on Thursday, calling on Democrats to stop playing politics and reach a compromise with Republicans on another coronavirus relief package. Rubio said the following.

Rubio: Right now with everything that’s going on, we need to help the people who are unemployed. We need to help small businesses to survive with another round of PPP. We need to give our schools money so they can set up testing, so they can open. And the only way we can get any of this done is to come up with a proposal that Republicans and Democrats can agree on.

And I want everyone to know that over the last few days, we have made very reasonable offers to Democratic leaders. But unfortunately, Speaker Pelosi has told us and made very clear that, unless we agree to everything they want, they would prefer to do nothing at all.

This take-it-or-leave-it approach is, frankly, all about politics. They believe that they’re better off winning an election in November if they do nothing.

And so I hope that my Democratic colleagues in Congress will understand that this is hurting our country and are willing to reach a compromise. That they will ask the speaker, that they’ll ask Senator Schumer, to back down from their all-or-nothing position. Because it’s hurting America.
