Maria Elvira Salazar Urges Joe Biden Not to Send Federal Aid to the Cuban Regime

This week, U.S. Rep. María Elvira Salazar, R-Fla., sent President Joe Biden a letter expressing her “strong opposition to any U.S. government aid going to the regime in Cuba.”

Recent news stories reported that the regime has made overtures to the Biden administration requesting aid as a result of Hurricane Ian.

“Our laws are designed to prohibit American tax dollars from flowing into the bank accounts of state sponsors of terrorism like Cuba,” said Salazar. “Giving aid to a state sponsor of terrorism would be immoral and dangerous. We know any potential aid will not be used to help the Cuban people but instead fund more cruelty towards those bravely protesting in the streets. US government support for protestors and internet connectivity are the aid Cubans need”.

Salazar’s office noted the congresswoman “remains steadfastly committed to a free Cuba.”
